We Support Our Veterans! Grant County Animal Outreach works along with Vets Adopt Pets to thank and celebrate veterans for their service to all Americans. As a show of our appreciation to all Veterans, GCAO is offering a fee waiver to veterans who adopt a pet from our shelter. Veterans applying to adopt a shelter pet must provide proof of military status and meet adoption requirements. PLEASE NOTE: To qualify for this program, you must follow the directions on the link provided. The Vets Adopt Pets program will notify the shelter of your qualification. Thank you for your service!

What if I have questions after I get my new pet home?
We understand that after you get your pet home, the adjustment period can be difficult. We encourage you to call us with any questions or problems, hopefully, before small problems become big ones! We are very experienced with pet transitions and welcome the opportunity to help make it as smooth for you and your pet as possible. And even when all is going well, we love getting calls or emails just to know how our “alumni” are doing.

Animal Holds. If you live outside of the Moses Lake area, we are able to place a hold on an adoptable animal for a $100.00 (dog) or $50.00 (cat) non-refundable charge. The charge would be applied to the adoption fee upon pickup. Animal will only be placed on hold until the following Saturday.

Off-Site Adoption Fees. If you adopt a GCAO shelter pet from an off-site event, adoption fees may be different than the local fees. This difference is to cover the cost and expense of transporting the shelter pets to the events, and many events require a minimum adoption fee to help cover expenses to hold the event. Off-site events contribute to a large number of our adoptions, and also allow for our Rescue Coordinator to meet and network with rescues throughout the Northwest, resulting in many more shelter pets being transported to rescues when our small shelter is out of space. If you have any questions about off-site events, please do not hesitate to contact us.
